Junk Food Marketed to Toddlers… As Health Food
August 5, 2010
Lucky Charms. Froot Loops. Cocoa Pebbles. A ConAgra frozen dinner with corn dog and fries. McDonald’s Happy Meals.
These foods might make a nutritionist cringe, but all of them have been identified by food companies as healthy choices they can advertise to children under a three-year-old initiative by the food industry to fight childhood obesity.
I don’t feel the need to inject any more negativity into the discussion, so I just pose one silly question here… Why do we continue to allow the industry to police itself, when we know this doesn’t work?
I’m not putting any suggestions out there like contacting your elected representatives… I have an even BETTER suggestion…
This…

Thoughts on Nutrition by Laura Huxley
July 24, 2010Nutrition is a transformer of our consciousness and touches every point of our lives…
Yes, we absorb the nutrition and we absorb the toxicity as well. Of course, the miracle is that our body eliminates much of what is harmful, but seeing the increase in degenerative diseases, even among the young, it is clear that there is a limit even to the immense wisdom of the body. I have been a few times, not very often, on a fast. After a fast, you are more sensitive and you will know pretty well what to eat. You will know that we all eat at least twice as much as we need…
Well, I eat God every day when I have a meal…
If you had a perfect environment, the perfect lover, and the perfect food, you obviously wouldn’t need any vitamins…
Did I just hear that correctly?

Fast Food Fraudsters Foiled!
February 26, 2010But not before we ate bad food!!!
Kraft, Frito Lay, and other corporate behemoths who manufacture food products were victimized by bribe-taking employees… and we end up eating sub-standard food
What’s scary is that these just the examples of the ones that got caught and were written about in the main-stream media…
Lets have some more of this please (from the farmer’s market)!!!

Food Economics…..Salt + Sugar + Fat = $$$
January 12, 2010Great interview with former FDA head David Kessler on Charlie Rose- talking about bliss point, hedonics. But Charlie isn’t really warming to David at all… especially when you compare it to his over the top flirtatious manner with Alice Waters! Or is she the one flirting with him! LOL’s all round!
Even though they are both talking about the sensuality of food… David is coming from a science and business vantage point … and Alice is coming from a … well… clearly FRENCH perspective! LOLworthy indeed, but also tres instructif!

December 31, 2009Shocking!… Breakfast Cereal Not Good For Kids….. What?
December 31, 2009
“A pre-sweetened cereal as part of a regular diet for kids is not a bad thing” – David McKay
Not a bad thing for whom? While kids have become more and more obese over the last decade, Wall Street has been pleased to see a 138% return on their investment in Kelloggs shares.
Froot Loops – Zero Fruit, 41% sugar…hmmmm … not a bad thing you say?
In case you’re just not sure what to do for breakfast with the tykes, here are a few ideas…
Pineapple bananas and milk
Toast peanut butter and bananas

“Below lists the children’s brands reviewed in the Yale study. The nutrition score was based on the nutrient profiling system developed by Rayner and colleagues at Oxford University and used by the Food Standards Agency in the United Kingdom. Those in bold are heavily marketed to children via television, internet or both.”
